The Definition of Gifted
Riverdale Public School recognizes the needs of students who possess and demonstrate extremely high levels of ability.
New Jersey Administrative code defines gifted and talented students as: "Those students who possess or demonstrate
high levels of ability, in one or more content areas, when compared to their chronological peers in the local district and
who require modification of their educational program if they are to achieve in accordance with their capabilities."
Elementary Curriculum
K-5
Students' needs are met through differentiated instruction and/or pull-out instruction
Middle School Curriculum
6-8
Students will participate in a "pull-out" program offering a variety of learning opportunities to further develop skills
in problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, interpersonal relationships, intrapersonal growth, and communication
through independent and/or group work.
Gifted Evaluation
All students will be screened in the spring for participation in the fall.
